Your COVID vaccination

Are you preparing to schedule your COVID vaccination as soon as your group or tier is called? Have you considered delaying it? I hope you will, and here’s why:

The vaccines are being distributed for equality, but not for equity. The communities with the highest mortality rates — Black and Latino — are not prioritized highly enough.

If you are able, as I am, to protect yourself and your family from COVID with the measures we’ve been using for eleven months — masks and social distancing — please leave the vaccines for more vulnerable communities and pick yours up later on. We’re all tired of the lockdown, but we shouldn’t be vaccinated so we can stop being part of the pandemic; we should vaccinate to prevent people from dying.

If your risk of dying is low, as mine is — walk with me to the back of the line.
